15%The Aia Vecchia Sor Ugo is the most prestigious wine of the estate and a powerful expression of the renowned wine region of Bolgheri in Tuscany. It belongs to the style of the so-called Super Tuscans: elegant blends of international grape varieties that thrive in the Mediterranean climate of the Tuscan coast.
The blend consists mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a small percentage of Petit Verdot, giving the wine structure, depth, and refinement. The grapes are carefully selected and fermented with a long maceration to extract maximum color, aroma, and complexity. The wine then ages for about 18 months in French oak barriques, followed by further bottle aging.
In the glass, Sor Ugo shows a deep ruby-red color. The bouquet reveals layers of ripe cherries, cassis, rosemary, and a hint of menthol, while the palate offers notes of dark fruit, coffee, licorice, and spices. The wine is full and rich, yet remains elegant, with a long, fresh, and subtly spicy finish
